Welcome to Oak Hills Elementary
Founded 1999
Oak Hills Elementary provides a warm, student-friendly environment. Our staff is dedicated to high educational standards while keeping in mind both the social and emotional needs of developing, growing children. Oak Hills Elementary has the feel of a true neighborhood school. Staff, students and parents work together to support our goals of community outreach. Our student council has sponsored charity walks, food drives, Community Action initiatives as well as support for individuals and families in need.
The fifth grade teachers at Oak Hills Elementary have developed an Intermediate approach that is designed to support the pre-adolescent child by offering leadership and learning opportunities both in and outside of the classroom setting. The staff at Oak Hills Elementary School wants students to learn independent thinking and problem solving skills. We want children to grow in confidence and to explore their own talents.
Oak Hills Elementary was built in 1999 with a capacity of 500 students. An addition was completed in 2003 that fulfilled the original plan to become a full capacity elementary school for 700 students. The name, Oak Hills, was chosen from several submitted by community residents. A student who submitted the name, noticed that the school was located on “a bit of a rise and that several oak trees were near by.”
In the fall of 2008 we were fortunate to have an Eagle Scout project completed in the woods/nature area to the south of our school. The project included clearing brush, creating a path for the community/school to use, while preserving the natural surrounding.
Our PTO sponsors annual Family Fun Night, Book Fairs, Walk-a-thon, Read-a-thon and Bingo night events.
Oak Hills Elementary School staff are truly honored to have the opportunity to work with kids. All of our staff members take the role of teaching very seriously and ultimately want to do what is best for kids. Please contact our school at 952-232-2500, if you have any questions.
